LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The provincial board recently approved an ordinance designating a portion of the Benguet General Hospital as a pay parking area for private motorists.
The measure designated for the scheme two parking spaces within the hospital compound -alongside the BeGH building adjacent to the Philippine National Police and La Trinidad Water District building.
A parking fee of P20 will be collected for the first hours and additional P10 per hour for succeeding hours.
The provincial treasurer’s office will oversee the collection of fees.
Board Member Concepcion Balao, chairperson of ways and means committee said the ordinance will take effect when the implementing rules and regulations shall have been passed.
The ordinance stemmed from the BeGH Economic Enterprise board of directors resolution No. 14 series 2009 requesting the provincial board to designate the BeGH parking lot as a pay parking area and to authorize the collection of fees.
BeGH is one of the province’s economic enterprise facility and management is looking for ways to generate resources to fund its operations.
Since it was established as economic enterprise, the provincial government’s subsidy has been reduced.
The passage of the measure is in accordance with the 2005 Provincial Revenue Code.
Provincial government motor vehicles including hospital vehicles will be exempted from this measure.
The back of the building will be designated as free parking area for hospital and provincial employees, and tenants for outsource personnel and patients. – Susan C. Aro
