SAN JUAN, Ilocos Sur – The term of office of a newly elected village chief of this town came to a violent stop as he was gunned down by motorcycle-riding men Thursday morning, police said.
Senior Supt. Angel Dopale, Ilocos Sur police director, said Barangay Resureccion chairman Denmark Bueno, 38, was coming out of the gate of St. William Institute in Magsingal town, also in the province, where he had brought his children when the armed men approached his van and shot him several times.
Dopale said a school guard, who witnessed the crime, described the triggerman as chubby, with long hair, and wearing black jacket and denim pants.
Bueno, a businessman, was rushed to the Magsingal District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police found seven Cal. 45 shells at the crime scene. The motive behind the killing was still unknown at press time.
