Female veggie dealer gets life term or shabu

La Trinidad, Benguet –A woman drug pusher who also worked as vegetable dealer was meted life imprisonment last week after four years of trial, Amy Dasigan was found guilty of selling illegal drugs after she was caught in possession of shabu at Bayabas, La Trinidad, Benguet by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Cordillera.
The buy-bust operation took place on Dec. 9, 2006, where six sachets or .52 grams of shabu were seized from her.
Dasigan, a native of Daet, Camarines Norte and resident of Bayabas, La Trinidad, Benguet, was found supplying shabu to her patrons at the vegetable trading post here.
Judge Marybelle Demot-Mariñas, of the Regional Trial Court Branch 8 here ruled on Jan. 7 Dasigan will pay P500,000 fine and will suffer additional 12 years and one day to 14 years and eight months in jail with another P300,000 penalty.
“All told, the prosecution evidence has overcome the presumption of innocence of the accused. Her guilt having been established beyond reasonable doubt, her conviction is proper in both cases,” the decision read.
Meanwhile, a homosexual who reportedly was a pimp tagged in the target list of drug personalities and reportedly serving as runner of a notorious drug group in Baguio City allegedly closely affiliated with the Bahala na Gang, was arrested on Jan. 7.
Cris Mansion Peñaflor alias “Tita Cris,” 36, from Manila and resident of Lower Quirino Hill, Baguio City was caught selling a P500-worth of shabu at a waiting shed also in Lower Quirino Hill.
PDEA agents said he tried to evade the bust by running away and swallowing the sachet of shabu.
