BAGUIO CITY— The exploration and development of more sources of renewable energy in the Cordillera goes full blast in this administration of President Aquino, the Department of Energy said last week.
DOE officials said more energy sources are being discovered in different parts of the country, particularly in this region, since the first hydro plant was built by missionaries in this mountain resort city in 1913.
The goal in developing more renewable energy sources is to greatly help in reducing the high power rates and help in the snowballing effort to preserve and protect the environment in this region and in other parts of the archipelago.
In the long run, experts admitted renewable sources of energy such as wind, solar and hydro as well as geothermal will significantly help in reducing power cost in the country, especially in communities hosting the renewable sources of energy, thus, communities must be empowered to host such power plants.
