Robbers loot P400,000 in Apayao road holdup

CONNER, Apayao – Nine unidentified men armed with a and handgun robbed an Isuzu elf truck along the national road here at Sangasang, Buluan, on June 30 and carted away P400,000 in cash and other valuables around 5:30 p.m.
Police said the vehicle, owned by Domingo Rescopin Jr. and driven by Eric Manlapas, 26 was headed towards Kabugao town in the province when the incident happened.
Police said the suspects’ faces were covered with handkerchiefs when they flagged down the truck.
With guns pointing at the victims identified as Janet R. Madarang, 43,a government employee and Amalia U. Rescopin, 48, business woman and both residents of Kabugao, Apayao, the armed men ordered them to bring out their money.
Aside from the P400, 000, the robbers also took two cell phones, driver’s license, around 1,000 US dollars, recorder, USB, four ATM card, GSIS E-card and policy contract of Juan Rescopin and immediately escaped on foot towards an unknown direction after the incident.
Conner police are still trying to locate the robbers.
