Vendor arrested for disobedience

BAGUIO CITY -- Instead of paying fine and confiscation of her goods, a vendor worsened her penalty to imprisonment after disobeying an agent of authority implementing the anti-peddling ordinance here July 5 about 9 a.m. at the city market.


Robert Yabut, a member of the anti-peddling/ littering squad of the City Mayor’s Office chanced upon Dionisia Alcantara Marasigan, 54, of Barangay Irisan here displaying her wares particularly pepper in a rattan container obstructing passersby

A police report said Yabut advised Marasigan to remove her wares but, she shouted at the former shouting in Ilocano “Apay nga siak laeng ti pag in-initan yo? Kasla kayo nga sigsiguro, kasla yo nga bagi ti palengke, apay gapu ta saanak nga agpakpakape?”

This prompted the complainant to confiscate her wares but the suspect struggled with him causing her wares to scatter along the pathway.

Campos sought the assistance of police which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Cases of violation of anti-peddling ordinance and resistance and disobedience to an agent in authority were filed against Marasigan who was ordered detained at the city jail on order of prosecutor Conrado Catral.
