Another barangay official killed in Pangasinan town

CALASIAO, Pangasinan -- Another barangay councilman was shot dead in Pangasinan province Wednesday night.

Police said Roberto Ramos, 43, a councilman of Barangay Ambonao in Calasiao town was on board his tricycle when he was gunned down by two men riding on a motorcycle.

Supt. Noel Vallo, town police chief, said Ramos succumbed to six gunshot wounds in the body.

Vallo said that the village official's killers are probably hired guns.

He said the shooters fired seven shots at Ramos based on the spent shells found at the crime scene.

He said that based on initial investigations, Vallo has been receiving death threats before he was killed.

He said that investigators learned that the victim was trying to sell his house and was already planning to move to another place because of the death threats.

Ramos was the second barangay coucilman killed in Pangasinan in a span of three days.

Earlier killed was Camilo Tamayo-Rufo, 41 of Barangay DoronganSawat in Mangatarem town Monday night.

The victim was on his way home on his motorcycle when he attacked about 100 meters away from his residence.

He was declared dead on arrival at the Velasquez Hospital.

Police recovered 12 M-16 cartridges at the crime scene.

Last Dec. 3, a barangay councilman was also shot dead in Mangaldan town.
