HRAB wants repair of Convention Center

BAGUIO CITY -- The Hotels Restaurants Association of Baguio is pressing rehabilitation of the Convention Center here.

Both parties are aware of the sorry state of the city landmark from the unmaintained moldy seat covers, lights and comfort rooms.

According to Anthony de Leon HRAB president, their group could rehabilitate the building in three stages.

De Leon who is also general manager of the Baguio Country Club knows whereof he speaks considering world class amenities of the BCC.

He said the first stage could cover rehabilitation of interiors and other galleries the building.

The second could be exterior of the building while the third would be landscaping of gardens surrounding the center to include the parking lot and bus companies occupying the area may have to vacate.

Earlier, Mayor Mauricio Domogan said private public partnerships will help the city revive its sleeping assets like the Convention Center as revenue resources.
The city government and the Government System Insurance System earlier signed a compromise agreement for city ownership of the Convention Center .

The city paid around P200,000,000 as payment for the facility after subtracting condoned overpayments made by the city government.
