Two nabbed after bocap surrenders shotgun

BANGUED, Abra -- Two men were arrested in separate incidents last week in this province for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition after a barangay captain surrendered a homemade shotgun to police.

A police report said on Nov. 25, barangay captain Alfredo Liyad voluntarily surrendered a GA 12 shotgun to Lagangilang town police chief Senior Insp. Angelito M. Dangli Jr. at Barangay Paganao, Lagangilang.

The following day on Nov. 26, two men identified as Ricky P. Florendo, 26 of Barangay Ba-I and March Benson T. Ducayag, 23 of Poblacion, Bangued were nabbed along Taft Street, Zone 5 in the capital town by joint personnel of Bangued Municipal Police Station and 503rd, 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The troops were reportedly patrolling the area when they noticed the two suspects acting suspiciously prompting troops to verify.

A World Cup Cal. 45 Pistol and two magazines loaded with 14 bullets were confiscated from Florendo while a Taurus Cal. 9mm pistol with one magazine loaded with 15 bullets was yielded by Ducayag.

Both suspects were jailed at the Bangued police station.
