Cordillera PNP ups drive vs loose firearms, wanted persons for 2013 elections

TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Cordillera regional police office has intensified its
campaign against loose firearms and wanted persons in preparation for elections
next year.
For the first quarter this year,
regional police confiscated or recovered
115 firearms with Abra having the largest number of 42.
Benguet was second with
36, Kalinga, 17; Baguio, 7;, Apayao and Ifugao both with five and Mt Province with

During operations, 63 persons were
arrested with cases filed with the courts against suspects.
For the same period, regional
police had 466 persons arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest
with Baguio having the largest number of 170, Benguet with 146, followed
by Abra and Kalinga with 42 each, then by Mt. Prov with 33.
Ifugao had 23 while Apayao had 10.
Of the total number of wanted persons arrested, 64 were listed in the list of
top most wanted persons.
Seven were in the Local Government
list list of MWP with monetary rewards ranging from 75,000 to 90,000
pesos each.
Marcelo T. Cosme and Glenn Corpuz y
Becte were arrested for murder while Johnween P. Palongias, Eddie A. Prezzas,
Geronimo O. Balas, Lito P. Garci and Eduardo Fraciso were all arrested for
rape.
