Ifugao seeks suspension of transportation code

LAGAWE, Ifugao --The Provincial Peace and Order Council approved resolution no. 2012-01 requesting the Lagawe municipal government to extend suspension of implementation of Section 25 of Municipal Ordinance known as the Lagawe Transportation Code of 2009.

Section 25 of the municipal ordinance prohibits tricycles outside of Lagawe to ferry or load passengers within the municipality, unless loading of passengers transpires at the boundary areas.

The enforcement of the provision resulted to inconvenience of the public from the municipalities of Kiangan, Hingyon, Lagawe and Asipulo as they have to take two rides going to their destination and consequently paying fare.

The PPOC chaired by Gov. Eugene Balitang requested Lagawe mayor CeasarioCabbigat to extend the suspension of said ruling until June 30.

The temporary suspension on implementation of the ordinance dated February 14, 2011 expired December 31, 2011.

Balitang said mayors of the said towns will convene to resolve the issue among themselves and come up with a solution that will benefit all concerned.
