ITOGON, Benguet -- The Benguet State University Open University
conducted a one-day Skills Enhancement
on Effective and Efficient Presentation for teachers last Saturday at
the Midas Elementary School in Ucab, in this mining town.
The activity which drew 13 participants from elementary schools in the area, was initiated
by the teacher-students of Masters in Non-formal Education.
The training included basic computer operation and using Microsoft
Power Point for school lectures and lesson related presentation. A workshop was
also held for the participants to learn how to prepare their own power point
presentation and on how to properly present it.
According to Open University Masters in Non-formal Education
adviser Dr. Marlowe Aquino, the activity is part of the field practicum of the
masteral students, which aims to apply what they have learned and as well as to
share and impart their skills and knowledge that can be helpful to the
elementary teachers in the area.
“This will be a support program already of BSU Open University,
under the directorship of Dr. LitaColting and with the enthusiasm shown by the
participants, I think the teachers (Open
University students) will have a very good interaction with the participants,
as this activity is both teaching and learning, which are both essential
element of education”, Aquino added.
He also bared that BSU is open to hold similar activity in the
future if there are formal request
for specific trainings.
Midas Elementary School Principal Christine Puguon was grateful
that the activity was held here. Though
there was a similar training held here before, some of the teachers in the
municipality have missed the opportunity to attend, she said.
