CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga —
The Commission on Elections in Central Luzon has set special polling
places for persons with disabilities for the 2013 mid-term elections.
Under Resolution No. 9485, issued on
June 29, Comelec has ordered the establishment of accessible polling places in
selected voting centers to ensure PWDs’ convenience.
The resolution said that polling
booths for PWDs should be located at the ground floor of the voting center and
should be spacious enough to accommodate more than 10 PWDs at a given time.
Wheelchair-bound voters and those
with assistive devices will also be assisted, it said.
It said that it will ensure that
polling places will be free of any physical barriers and shall provide the
necessary mobility, communications, visual, and other forms of assistance for
PWDs.
