Cordillera PDEA busts P4 B drugs, nabs 911

DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the
Cordillera since January conducted 815 buy-bust/entrapment operations and
confiscated over P4.69 billion worth of dangerous drugs and arrested 911
individuals, including 89 persons listed in the drug watch list and 69 in the
target list.
This
was bared in a report as the PDEA-Cordillera
celebrated
July 26 its 10th year anniversary with the theme, ‘A decade of safeguarding the
nation through effective drug enforcement'.
The
PDEA-Cordillera regional office, headed by Regional Director Ronald Allan
Ricardo, highlighted its anniversary program here at the regional police office
where the agency reported neutralization of 15 local drug groups in the region.
On
marijuana eradication, PDEA conducted
117 operations which resulted to destruction of P4.5 billion worth of
marijuana plants.
Ricardo
said they are implementing competency enhancement for their 44 agents, three
technical staff, 11 administrative personnel and four project employees.
The
PDEA was created by Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 signed
on June 7, 2002 and took effect July 4,
2002.
