HUNGDUAN, Ifugao - - The
Sangguniang Bayan here has crafted an
ordinance sustaining an education assistance program to indigent students of
the municipality.
Known as the 'Hungduan
Assistance to Poor, Interested and Deserving Students (HAPIDS)', this will help beneficiaries attain their
educational goals.
The SB led by vice-mayor John Hangdaan said it is
the policy of the local government of
Hungduan to provide opportunities especially to poor but deserving students who
are interested in finishing their high school and college education through
grants and scholarship.
“To help them, the LGU shall establish an education assistance
program to cater to the needs of qualified indigent students from the nine
barangays of the municipality,” Hangdaan said.
Benefits include P500 for payment of miscellaneous fees for each
high school grantee and P2,000 per semester for college grantees for tuition and miscellaneous fees.
The financial assistance shall be automatically discontinued if
grantees have a grade of lower than 80 percent, commit crime, drop out and
gross income of their family exceeds P45,000.
