Hedcor erects 20th powerhouse for Tudaya hydro 2

A month after Hedcor broke ground for Tudaya Hydro 2 project, the site is now filled with busywork.
Men are working and the construction
equipment is moving. The first batch of employed locals is already laboring with
company’s contractor.
Hedcor Tudaya
project manager Rodolfo Laguna said that they are taking advantage of the good
weather condition. “Our construction is dependent to the weather. So far, we
are on a right track of our time frame and we are productive,” he added.
Men
are working the foundation of the powerhouse with a floor area of almost 400
square meters. Hydro turbine will be its location with generators and a control
room to administer power to transmission line. At the same time, access road were
developed for over 3000 meters penstock and conveyance line.
Thus,
the 7-megawatt Tudaya Hydro 2 will deliver 40.5 gigawatt-hours annually to Davao
Del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DASURECO) which can power more than 7000
homes.
The
whole duration of work is expected to reach within 14 months. Itincludes all
the system of a run-of-river hydropower plant – weir, desander, penstock,
conveyance line and powerhouse.
Laguna
further said, “The company implements all the safety and health measures of all
workers anchored from the international standards and procedures governed by
the Department of Labor and Employment or DOLE”.
In
fact, Hedcor is an ISO-certified for Occupational Health and Safety and awarded
with the Safety Milestone by the DOLE. The hydro firm prioritizes the safety of
employees and ensures healthy working environment.
Hedcor
has 19 run-of-river hydropower plants with installed total capacityof 155 MWs
in Benguet, Ilocos Sur and Davao.
