John Hay cited in Turkish biz meet

BAGUIO CITYJohn Hay Management Corporation president Jamie Eloise M. Agbayani was one of three presentors from the Philippines in an international business conference in Turkey where she promoted Camp John Hay and its Special Economic Zone as investor-friendly hubs of the Philippines.

The Department of Trade and Industry in cooperation with the Turkish Chamber of Commerce, Inc. sent delegates, including Agbayani  to the Outbound Business Matching (OBM) mission from Oct. 2-9, to boost trade relations between the Philippines and Turkey, as well as provide opportunities for business development and job generation.

They were warmly received by The Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkiye (TUSKON) which is a non-government organization with 7 business federations and 168 business associations with more than 100,000 companies among its members.
           
With its domestic network, it provides services for bilateral business matching from and to Turkey.
       
According to a World Bank 2010 report, Turkey has been recognized as among the fastest growing economies and has ranked 15th largest economy in the world and 6th in Europe. The delegation was able to visit factories in Istanbul and the Ankara Industrial Zone.
        
The Philippine contingent was headed by DTI-TIPG  Undersecretary Cristino L. Panlilio, Director Senen Perelada of the Bureau of Export Trade Promotions, Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) Chief Finance Officer Atty. Nena D. Radoc and Agbayani.
           
They were accompanied by 10  businessmen from the electronics, construction, firearms and ammunition imports, international cargo forwarding, food industries, manufacturing, telecommunications and  business processing,  outsourcing, and education sectors.
 
Agbayani promoted  Camp John Hay and its Special Economic Zone also as conducive for business development in information and communication technology, service exports, business processing outsourcing, tourism with construction of additional accommodation facilities and promotion of eco-cultural, medical and educational tourism.
           
Given equal prominence were the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and the Baguio City Economic Zone for its investment opportunities for agro-industrial manufacturing and warehousing facilities.
       
 Agbayani also talked about  The BCDA Group as “One Global Zone” with its globally
competitive economic zones with  their airports, seaports, road network and rail projects, to further boost tourism, trade, business development and job generation in the Philippines.
       
The Turkish businessmen expressed their desire in establishing businesses outside their country and region, and the  Philippines is among the economies they  are considering as they perceive it to be the next tiger economy in Asia.
