BAGUIO CITY -- A technical-vocational graduate of Baguio City School of Arts and Trade, a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority here has gained  recognition abroad for his outstanding service.

Rodney Cadalig, a BCSAT graduate of Hotel and Restaurant Services in 2008, was recently awarded the Excellent Service Award or EXSA – Silver in Restaurant Service in Singapore.

The EXSA is a national award in Singapore that recognizes individuals who have delivered quality service.

It seeks to develop service models for staff to emulate and to create service champions.

EXSA is supported by SPRING Singapore which is an agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry responsible for helping Singapore enterprises grow and build trust in  the island nation's products and services.

As the national standards and accreditation body, SPRING develops and promotes an internationally-recognized standards and quality assurance infrastructure.

Cadalig, a resident of Baguio City, is currently working at the Tai Hing Cafe under the Select Service Partner Singapore Pte Ltd. as a restaurant supervisor since December 2011.

He was nominated by his employer to the prestigious award for the exceptional service he provides to their guests.

BCSAT administrator David Bungallon, in a statement, said recognition given to Cadalig was another milestone towards  the realization of the institution’s mission to provide quality education, skills training and practical experiences for the development of globally competitive, employable and productive Filipino workforce.

TESDA-Cordillera regional director Yolanda Olano said, “It is with humble pride that we are now seeing the efforts of our Director General Secretary Joel Villanueva continually bearing fruit as in the case of Rodney Cadalig.

“It has been Secretary Joel’s vision that the agency would provide globally competitive, quality technical vocational education that would lead to gainful employment, a productive life and alleviate the financially challenged status of our citizens” Olano added.

TESDA is in the forefront of the government’s effort of delivering its brand of tech-voceducation  down  to the grassroots level  where it is most needed.
