LAGAWE, Ifugao -- Mayor Ceasario Cabbigat has approved imposition of permit fees to persons or organization who  excavated public or private streets to regulate diggings here.

Said fees range from P150 to P300 along with a cash deposit of P5,000 which should  be paid to the municipal treasurer upon application for mayor’s permit and before the excavation.

The cash deposit will be forfeited in favor of the municipal government in case the site is not fixed within ten days after the excavation is completed.

Local officials said the municipal engineer or the building official shall supervise excavation and determine width of street to be excavated and report to the municipal treasurer delay in completion of work.

Excavators should place signs in the area to protect the public from danger, they said.

Any person doing excavation work without  proper documents will be penalized with a fine of P1,000 or imprisonment of not more than one month or both at the discretion of the court.
