LAGAWE, Ifugao -- Seven municipalities of this
province recently implemented the cash-for-work program (CWP) of the Department
of Social Welfare and Development as financial assistance to victims of
typhoons “Pedring” and “Quiel” last year.
Minda Romero of the DSWD field office here
said P3,020,170.00 was disbursed and payment was made to the municipalities of
Aguinaldo, Asipulo, Hingyon, Hungduan, Lagawe, Lamut and Tinoc for
beneficiaries last week of October.
The CWP is a financial assistance to
households and families displaced or affected by typhoons or calamities for
their speedy recovery and rehabilitation.
Beneficiaries receive cash based on the
prevailing regional wages in exchange for doing community projects such as
repair and construction of damaged houses and community facilities, clean-up
and garbage collection.
In the seven municipalities, beneficiaries
worked to clear road and path obstructions, repaired Day Care Centers and rehabilitated
communal irrigation systems in their communities.
The municipality of Lamut was paid the
biggest amount of P743,925.00 with 429 beneficiaries; Lagawe with P619,125.00
for its
715 beneficiaries and Hingyon
with P491,400.00 for 231 beneficiaries, and Tinoc with P237,900.00 for 122 recipients.
Asipulo
got P350,220.00 covering beneficiaries from 11 barangays; Aguinaldo
with P300,700.00 covering 4 barangays
and Hungduan with P276,900.00
for its CWP workers.
Last year, Ifugao received P19,739,610.00 for
7,065 families from the 11 municipalities of the province who were victims of
typhoon “Ondoy” and beneficiaries of the
cash for work and food for work programs.
