Illegal lumber seized in Benguet towns

CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet
– Assorted pieces of illegally sawn pine lumber were confiscated in different
parts of Benguet last week.
Chief Supt. Benjamin B. Magalong,
regional police director, said lumber confiscated in Englada, Paoay,Atok was worth P1,456.
These were left by still unidentified
individuals along the road at Paoay.
The following day, Tublay police led by
Senior Insp. Ronald N. Viscara, chief of police, discovered 26 pieces of newly
cut pine lumber at km 18, Ambassador Tublay, Benguet while conducting patrol.
On the same day, members of the Benguet
Police Provincial Special Company led by Senior Insp. Eron Managtag recovered
10 pieces of illegally sawn pine logs and a power chainsaw at Barangay
Dagem, Bangao, Buguias.
No person was arrested during the said
operations. The lumber were later turned over to the Department of Environment
and Natural Resources.
