BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya  – The congressional bet here of former President Joseph Estrada’s PartidongMasang Pilipino (PMP), who is being dismissed as a mere proxy candidate, has been missing since last month.

Mayor Severino John Bagasao of this capital, the PMP’s local chairman, said they have been locating Rodrigo Perez Jr. who they have not seen since Nov. 27, with his family now worried over his safety.

“We have the right to be suspicious because right now he is our candidate for Congress, (but) can be substituted anytime,” he said.

On Bagasao’s prodding, Perez, 78, former chairman of this town’s Buenavista village and a close political supporter, filed his candidacy for the province’s lone congressional district against re-electionist Rep. Carlos Padilla of the Nacionalista Party.
