BONTOC, Mountain Province -- Police warned the public particularly business establishments on presence of two unidentified Tagalog-speaking females roaming around Poblacion here cheating store owners.
Senior Supt. William ViteƱo, provincial police chief said, the strategy of the swindlers is that one of them buys goods from a store then pays with a P1000 or P500 bill.
While the owner/storekeeper is preparing the change, the other female arrives and pretends not to know each other, inquiring from the store owner or seller about prices of commodities to distract the attention of the owner/storekeeper while getting the change.
The first customer after receiving the change complains that the owner/storekeeper gave short change which will be confirmed by the partner which convinces the unsuspecting owner/storekeeper to give the reported shortage.
This happened to a Generic Pharmacy who lost more than a thousand pesos from the two unidentified female swindlers.
Following this, police advised business establishments to be cautious when they encounter this type of cheating from swindlers and immediately report any similar incident to the nearest police station.
