TABUK CITY, Kalinga-- The Commission on Elections in Kalinga had ordered poll candidates in the province to voluntarily remove all posters outside Comelec-designated areas, including oversized campaign materials.

Provincial Election supervisor Dexter BaryCawis said Comelec-Cordillera issued the advisory before its region-wide simultaneous “Operation Baklas” on April 17.

Cawis said the move was part of Comelec steps to assure orderly and fair May 13 mid-term elections in the country.

The Comelec “baklas team” was composed of the election registrar, chief of police, Army representative and local government officer.

According to Cawis, though the Commission means business with its rules, Comelec-Cordillera prefered to execute a “friendlier order giving chance to candidates and supporters of Party Lists to comply with the Comelec order.

Cawis reiterated his appeal to all candidates and their supporters, including Party Lists supporters to comply with campaign guidelines to maintain the peaceful election situation in the province.
