Armed man nabbed for following Abra mayor

BANGUED, Abra – A man was arrested and now under investigation here for following a mayor inside a gym here with a concealed gun during the oathtaking of Gov. Eustacio Bersamin and Vice Gov. Chari Bersamin around 9:30 a.m. on June 30.

A police report identified the suspect as Ricky Reyes Baga, 32, single, casual employee of Peñarrubia and resident of Barangay Patiao of the town.

Charges for illegal possession of firearms were lodged against him.

Investigation disclosed while police were inspecting entrance of the gym for oath taking of the Bersamins and newly elected board members, they saw the suspect following Mayor Geraldine Balbuena of Penarrubia.

The suspect was about to enter the gymnasium when police frisked him and saw the firearm and bullets kept inside his sling bag.

Confiscated from the suspect were the following a Cal. 45 pistol, two magazines and 13 bullets for the gun, a Cal. 22 pen gun and bullet for the latter.

           

Baga and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Bangued police station where he was detained.
