Councilman shot dead in P’sinan

MANGATAREM, Pangasinan — A village councilman was shot dead here night of August 31 while responding to a stoning incident in his neighborhood in Barangay Malabobo.

Police said Kagawad Fedelito Batobato, 67, succumbed to buckshot wounds in the stomach.

A shotgun was used by the suspect, MarcelinoSaure, alias “Judy,” 42, in allegedly killing Batobato when they crossed paths in the middle of the street past 11 p.m.

Responding police arrived minutes after the shooting and arrested Saure. -- Freddie G. Lazaro
