Ilocos Norte gets UN nod as one of Phl top provinces

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – The province of Ilocos Norte was adjudged by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in its 2012/2013 Philippine Human Development Report (PHDR) as one of the top 10 provinces in the country this year.

The province earned this distinction through its excellent local governance system and the outstanding implementation of its business development plan geared towards sustainable economy and upliftment of the socio-economic living of the residents.

Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos expressed elation at the development, saying this was the product of their continuing efforts to boost the economy of the province. She said Ilocos Norte had increased its growth rate from 8.4 percent in 2011 to 12 percent in 2012. -- Freddie G. Lazaro
