BAGUIO
CITY -- The city government will implement tomorrow (Nov. 18) massive
clearing and demolition of stalls within the vicinity of Mines View park
including sidewalk vending.
This was the
decision of the Baguio City Market Authority during a meeting with Mayor
Mauricio Domogan Nov 7.
“Some
133 qualified applicants must occupy the multi-purpose building on or before
Nov. 15 as they were already given notification to do so and that they are
given the privilege to choose their desired slots,” said the mayor.
Clearing
and demolition was not realized first week of November as agreed upon by the
BCMA in view of the observance of All Saint’s Day and Soul’s Day.
Mayor
Domogan urged vendors or interested individuals to apply for a possible slots
considering that there are still vacant slots available at the said multi-purpose
building.
Application
will go through the same screening and evaluation process by the BCMA.
There
were reports that about 70 applications are questionable, thus the BCMA will
defer the awarding to the concerned applicants for further deliberation and
investigation.
Domogan
said “implementation of the massive clearing and demolition has long been
overdue because of trying to accommodate all the concerns of the vendors in
Mines View. We have to do this now in preparation of the yuletide
season.”
Subsequently,
the four million budget appropriated for the rehabilitation on Mines View park
will already be implemented.
