Cordillera medical mission set for leyte

Aside from relief support, the Cordillera is
sending this yuletide a 28-member medical mission to serve victims of
super-typhoon Yolanda that hit Eastern Visayas early last month.
Led by Dr. Manuel
Quirino, head of the emergency department of the Baguio General Hospital and
Medical Center, the team will enplane this Tuesday for Tacloban City to
relieve other volunteers earlier sent by the Department of Health to
serve at the Eastern Visayas Medical Center in the calamity-devastated city.
Quirino, a surgeon,
has also specialized in health emergency in disaster management and serves as
trainer and course coordinator in basic life support – adult and pediatric,
advanced cardiac life support and mass casualty incident management.
With him in the team
are eight representatives of the Department of Health, 15 from the BGHMC,
four from the Conner District Hopsital in Apayao and one from the Far North
Luzon Gen. Hospital in Luna, Apayao.
From the health
regional office are Dr. AmelitaPangilinan, Dr. Alexei Marrero, Dr. Mary Munoz,
Engr. Basilio Munar Jr., Engr. Nelson Cara, midwife David Waclet, nurse Karen
Lonogan and nurse Victoria Malicdan.
BGHMC is sending Dr.
Mateo Bawayan, Dr. Dexter Feleciano, Dr. Joy Fongayao, Dr. Celestreli May Oras,
Dr. Elizabeth Solang, Dr. Sheree Villacorta, nurses Raffy Ayunon, Oliver
Balariz, Arthur Calde Jr., Simon Lacwasan, Krisel Matias and Allan Nape-ek;
psychologist Elaine Bautista, orthopedic Jeff Calixto and occupational
therapist Jimmy June Reyes.
From Conner are nurse
Gregory Bangon, Dr. Ariel Gayudan, Dr. Oliver :Lacambre and Dr. Michael
Mercado.
Completing the team is
Dr. Jerome Pascual of the DNLGH in Apayao.
Earlier, the Benguet
Electric Cooperative sent the first mission, a 12-member engineering team that
reached Capiz in mid-November to help rehabilitate the electric system under
the coverage of the Capiz Electric Cooperative.
The team dispatched by
BENECO general manager Gerardo Verzosa and led by Engr. Ricardo Pallogan
brought along a boom truck and several generators.
