NPAs torch equipment, Sino barges in Cagayan raid

TUGUEGARAO
CITY, Cagayan — Heavily-armed New People’s Army (NPA) rebels torched Monday
various heavy equipment, including two barges, belonging to a Chinese company
in Barangay Catayauan , Lallo, this province, police said Jan. 14.
Chief
Insp. Jacinto Tuddao, Lallo chief of police, confirmed that the heavy equipment
razed belonged to Sanyu Philippines Mining Trade Corporation.
Set
on fire by around 50 NPA rebels around 2 a.m. Monday were two barges, a
payloader, a backhoe, and two dump trucks.
No
one was hurt in the arson.
It
was reported that the Sanyu Philippines Mining Trade Corporation is being
managed by a certain Wang Zhong Feng, a native of China.
Some
of the gunmen made their getaway in a Mitsubishi Adventure sports utility
vehicle (SUV) with license plates PWO-298, which was later recovered by police
in Barangay San Mariano, same town.
