Diarrhea up in Lagawe; water chlorination on

LAGAWE, Ifugao – Diarrhea cases
drastically increased here alarming health authorities who conducted water
chlorination in a barangay to abate the ailment.
The
municipal health office recorded a total of 35 diarrhea cases
within two weeks in barangay Dulao this municipality recently that prompted
chlorination of water sources in said barangay.
Among the
reported cases, 12 people suffered acute gastroenteritis and were treated on
site by MHO employees, four were brought to the hospital and the other victims
were given medical treatment
Dr.
Florilyn Joyce Bentrez, municipal health officer, said water chlorination
will be temporary solution while
awaiting results of water sampling.
“Samples
from the water will show whether there are harmful organisms thriving in the
water,” she said.
The MHO
advised villagers to boil water for drinking and practice good sanitation to
avoid diarrhea and other related illnesses.
