TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Police Regional Office Cordillera celebrated the 19th
Police Community Relations Month here Mayor Edna C. Tabanda, as guest of
honor and speaker.
Ten
PRO-COR personnel were awarded Medalyang
Kagalingan led by PO2 Eubert B Kaniteng of the Regional Public Safety Battalion
for gallantry that led to neutralization of a “CNN” squad leader.
Medalyang Kasanayan was also received by six personnel: Supt. Laureano Alexis
Marinas, Chief Insp. Fernando Botangen, Senior Insp. Angeline Amangan, Insp.
Nick Balunos, PO2 June Diwag and non-uniformed personnel Michele Junio while Senior Inspectors Janette Bautista,
Dino Cogasi and Noel B Lantin received Medalyang Papuri for implementation of
PNP mission and competence by excelling in their skills, aside from promoting
PRO Cordillera as a credible and reliable law enforcement unit.
The
celebration of the PCR Month is timely for the PRO-Cordillera to further
enhance the public’s awareness on their crucial role in crime prevention which
also serves as the forum for soliciting community support and participation to
the various programs of the organization, and further improve and strengthen
the PNP’s image through media, said regional police director Chief Supt.
Isagani Nerez.
Mayor Edna Tabanda stressed importance of a healthy police-community relationship to ensure peaceful and orderly community, aside from encouraging Cordillera police not to be involved or to receive anything from illegal activities especially gambling.

“Go out in the community, mingle and talk to the people around you for them to
feel your presence. In public service, you do not need to be educated to

mayor added.

tree planting activity followed after the program at the picnic groove led by
Tabanda.
Other
activities lined up for celebration were audio-visual documentation, seminars
on family and strengthening responsive
and accountable PRO-COR PCR, symposium and distribution of information
materials, disaster drill, concert of PRO-COR band, blood donation of Red Cross
and blood-letting of the Baguio City Police Office.
“The PRO-COR extends its gratitude and appreciation to all the stakeholders who have been very supportive in all the programs of the organization as well as in helping the PNP in its various task on crime prevention and control. “We are hoping that this partnership will continue to grow in the years to come,” said regional director for operations, Senior Supt. Robert Quenery said in his welcome remarks.

Benguet’s ‘top most wanted person’
arrested in Vizcaya
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- The “top most
wanted persons” of Benguet was arrested Monday afternoon in Marangad, Run-runo,
NuevaVizcaya by Benguet police. Provincial Director, Police Senior Supt.
Rodolfo Azurin identified the suspect as Dominador C. Abines of Bangao,
Buguias, Benguet, who was charged for two counts of rape with no bail
recommended as issued by Judge Agapito K. Loagan Jr. of the RTC Branch 64, 1st
Judicial Region, in Abatan, Buguias.
Jueteng collector cornered
TUBA, Benguet – A woman caught in the act of collecting
jueteng bets at the tollgate of Camp 6 here June last year was arrested last
week in Damilian Street, Barangay Nalcian, Manaoag, Pangasinan.
The housewife was identified as Veron H. Pili, 60, who was
charged for illegal gambling.

Man burns nipa hut; caught applying
for work abroad
LAGAYAN, Abra -- Operatives of the Regional and Provincial
Intelligence Personnel and Provincial Public Safety Company arrested a man here
June 26, for burning a nipa hut here last April.
Provincial police director Senior Supt. VirgilioLaya said
Berni Taguibao Banganan, 30, of Barangay Collago here was arrested at Jocson St.,
Sampaloc, Manila, while processing his application as an overseas foreign
worker at the UNO Manpower Agency.
P3.6 M marijuana burned in Benguet
CAMP
DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Coinciding with the International Day against
Drug Abuse, police uprooted some P3.6 million worth of marijuana in Benguet.
Police
Regional Office Cordillera director Isagani Nerez said Benguet police’s “Oplan Olive Leaf 95” in Kibungan,
Benguet resulted in eradication of marijuana found in eight plantation sites.
Benguet
police and the Cordillera Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency covered a total of
1, 640 sq. meters of land area in Sitio Lebeng, and in Sitio, Tagpaya, Badeo,
Kibungan destroying 5,200 fully grown marijuana plants, 5 kgs of dried
marijuana leaves, 11, 000 marijuana seedlings, and 1 kg of seeds with a
total DDB value of Php1,630,000.
The
next day of the operation in SitioLokok, Badeo, Kibungan resulted in discovery
of three plantation sites where around
P2,020,000 million pesos worth marijuana were confiscated.
Cordillera
police top officials saud they were against legalization of marijuana
initiating community effort against illegal drugs.

regarding drug abuse will be conducted including the distribution of crime
prevention flyers alongside tri-media activities to showcase this agenda,”

Man
nabbed in biggest Kalinga drug bust
TABUK
CITY, Kalinga --Kalinga police reports its biggest haul of suspected
methamphetamine drug, popularly known as shabu as a result of a search warrant.
Based
on police report, a search warrant was recently served at the resident of
suspect identified as Albert Sinumlag alias Amboy, 48, of Anunang, Rizal,
Kalinga for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the
Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This
resulted to the confiscation of shabu valued at P180,000.00. This was the biggest haul
reported in the province.
Also
seized inside the house of Sinumlag were two Samsung cellular phones, two
Cherry mobile phones, one I-phone, one Nokia cellular phone, assorted drug
paraphernalia and one electronic weighing scale.
A
case for illegal drugs was filed at the provincial prosecutor’s office against
the suspect.
Said
operation was conducted through the joint efforts of the Rizal Municipal Police
Station, Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Operation Task Group ,Provincial
Intelligence Branch ,R2 and Kalinga Provincial Public Safety Command.

Wanted man arrested for carnapping, illegal
detention
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet -- The Cordillera’s number 6 top
most wanted persons was arrested by Cordillera Regional Highway Patrol Unit and
Provincial Highway Patrol Team of Nueva Vizcaya evening June 24 at Juel Country
Homes Subd., San Fernando, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya.

charged for carnapping and serious illegal detention issued by Judges Maria

Trinidad Benguet Province respectively.

Fugitive cornered for rape after five years
LAGAWE,
Ifugao -- The Cordillera’s No. 8 top most wanted person who hid for five years
from the law for allegedly raping a 52-year-old, widow inside the pastoral
house here on Feb. 27, 2009 was arrested here June 23 in
SitioGulipong, Barangay Montabiong.
Police
identified the suspect as Romel Amoy
Dumawol, 48, farmer, who was earlier charged for rape in the sala of
Judge Joseph P Baguilat of Regional Trial Court Branch, Lagawe.
Suspect
was arrested in his residence by joint elements of the Intelligence and
Investigation personnel of the Regional and Ifugao Police Provincial Office and
members of the Ifugao Provincial Public Safety Company.

His
group was allegedly responsible for the million peso heist of a pawnshop in
Metro Manila and robbery of pawnshops in Baguio City.

DANGWA, Benguet -- Four other wanted persons were recently arrested in their
residences: Shad Lugay Dimara,28, driver, a resident of Purok 7, Bulanao, Tabuk
City, Kalinga, for robbery with bail of P100,000; a minor, resident of
Victoria Village, Baguio City, for slight physical Injuries; Arnold Castillo
Cortez, 44, of Laya East, Tabuk City,
Kalinga, for violation of Republic Act 9262 (Violence against women and
children) and Christopher Caballero y
Valeros, 25 of Bakakeng Central, Baguio City for qualified theft.
Four
alleged robbers were also incarcerated: Peter Cam-id Sumedca, 58, of
Sagada, Mt. Province, who was arrested in his residence at Alemars St., Purok
7, Irisan, Baguio City; John Joshua Timba Penamante, 18 and a 16 year old
minor, both residents of Baguio City and Jay-ar Pullis Sag-al, who was arrested
in his residence in Barangay Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Six
others were also locked up in jail:Moises Caga Palgue, 31, 138 Buyagan, La
Trinidad, Benguet for falsification of public document; Gina Bala-oy Inong,
call center agent, native of Atok,
Benguet and a resident of km 4, Asin Road, Baguio City, who was arrested at
Baguio City Economic Zone, Loacan Road, Baguio City for illegal recruitment
with no bail recommended; Bonie Banwag Ngalluban,
24, miner, native of Malango, Tinglayan, Kalinga and a resident of Purok 2,
Kias, Baguio City who was nabbed at Purok 3, Kias, Baguio City for attempted
highgrading; RosendoPaquita Calabson, 39, geodetic engineer and Ferguson
Road, Baguio City for Violation of Presidential Decree 975 while two
individuals were nabbed for estafa, namely Julius Calano Adalim, 25, who was
arrested in his residence at Sitio Camp Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet, with bail
set at P200,000 and Michael Sirra Callos, 35, of Dasmarinas,
Cavite, who was nabbed inside the Justice Hall, Baguio City.

Man shoots wife
VILLAVICIOSA, Abra -- One Venacio Camiling Belisario, 37,
farmer, was arrested for shooting his wife here in SitioDenden, Brgy Cal-lao
evening of June 29.
The 34-year-old wife who sustained gunshots to her left arm
was brought to Abra Provincial Hospital for medication.
Responding police confiscated the Cal. 38 handgun from the
the suspect attempted to kill himself after the incident.

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Patrolling policemen of Bayabas, Pico
here collared one Lambert Col-eting Agamas, 29, miner, resident of Toyong, Barangay Pico Road here
for attempting to steal an iPod and cell phone early morning of June 29 in
front of Native Restaurant in Pico.
The suspect was reaching for the items with the use of a
stick when the victim took notice and shouted for help.
The missing items together with the stick used were all
recovered
Construction worker beats minor; jailed
BAGUIO CITY -- A 27 year old construction worker was jailed
for beating a minor student he accused of stealing his money here at Km. 5
Marcos Highway, Sto. Tomas Proper afternoon of June 28.
The suspect identified as Johnny Tupagen y Palitayan a.k.a
"Sokoy", resident of Tomas Proper here.
Police filed another case against the suspect for providing
different names during his medico-legal and interrogation.

Mountain Province -- An intoxicated 19-year- old farmer identified as Clever
Mangatam, resident of Central Poblacion here was arrested for hacking
one Jeric Bula-ay Binoloc, 18, farmer, of Baay, Bacarri also in this town.
The
victim was hacked on his on his left hand inside the Ventura’s Videoke, at Dagawe,
Poblacion evening of June 28.

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet -- Three persons were recently
arrested outside the region for frustrated homicide committed in the
Cordillera.
They were identified as Alvin Abara,
alais Aldwin Abara Arcenue, 27, farmer, of Alibeng, Sison, Pangasinan who was
nabbed in Baybay Norte, Sual, Pangasinan with bail set at P120,000; while Jay
Jay Saldino Sabatan, 22 was apprehended at Florencio Vargas College, Cagayan.
The third was Jaypee Talay Ballesteros, 22, who was arrested at City
Technological Institute College, Cagayan, both students and residents of
Lattut, Rizal, Cagayan.

attempted high grading here.
Rodolfo Paga Dalignoc, 22 was arrested
in Kias, Baguio City while Dennis Ballangan Morales, 27; Gerald EwosBallangan,
25; Isekias Alicog Ongyao, 32, were arrested here in Balatoc, Virac.
