Soldier killed in Abra town ambush

BANGUED, Abra – An army trooper was killed
when they were ambushed by armed men believed to be members of the New People’s
Army in Barangay Tabacda, Tubo, Abra June 28.
Major Calixto Cadano,
spokesman of the army’s 5th Infantry based in Camp Upi, Gamu, Isabela,
confirmed that the soldiers were on their way to conduct civic mission in a
community near the boundary of Abra and Ilocos Sur when they were ambushed by
the armed men.
The killed soldier was
identified as Private First Class Rodel Dela Masa, from Pangasinan and a member
of the army’s 72nd reconnaissance company. -- Freddie Lazaro
