PNP chief graces Camp Dangwa rites
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Philippine National Police Director General Allan Purisima graced conferment of “initiation stage status” Oct. 30 to recipients of regional office here at Masigasig Grandstand.

During this activity, almost 300 participants composed of advisory council members and recipients attended, said Chief Insp. Cherry M. Fajardo, chief of regional police information office

The program stated at 8:30 a.m. attended by the media and stakeholders.

Abracops arrest 3‘drug peddlers’
BANGUED, Abra – Three alleged drug peddlers were simultaneously arrested by police here last week.

 Two suspects were arrested for illegal drug possession Oct. 25here in Zone 1 identified as Rex Joseph Bulos Sundiam, 24, of Barangay. Sinapangan and JunalynTaeza Ramilo, 23 of Zone 3.

Both suspects were arrested following tip of concerned citizen saying suspects were on board a black motorcycle after buying shabu from South Calaba, Bangued and they were heading towards Bangued town plaza.

Confiscated from the suspects were suspected dried marijuana leaves, improvised tooter; and two cellular phones.
Edgar Tanora of the DZPA Radio station witnessed the operation.

Police also arrested a farmer Oct. 24 in his residence in Barangay San Antonio, Bangued.

The drug suspect identified as Abner Bonete Ducayag, 20, of Barangay San Antonio, Bangued, arrested in a buy-bust operation after he sold shabu to a cop who posed as a  buyer near a river bank.

Confiscated from his possession were shabu and six pieces P500 marked money.

Charges for illegal drugs were filed against the suspects.

Following, this, Chief Supt.Isagani Nerez, regional police director, said Cordillera cops  will intensify campaign against illegal drugs.

Ifugao PNP, Shell sign MOA to promote peace
LAMUT, Ifugao – Provincial police and management of Shell gasoline station  in Poblacion West here signed an agreement last week to promote peace and order in the municipality.

The memorandum of agreement was signed by PNP-Ifugao director  Senior Supt. John Colinio and Christopher  Codamon, manager  of Shell gas station  here.

This was in line with the partnership  of the PNP  with the Association  of Pilipinas Shell Dealers Association, Inc. to support campaign on peace and order focusing on crime prevention and solution.

Under the MOA, Shell  stationwill serve as a police standby area for  patrolling policemen and  provide space for distribution of crime prevention leaflets to the public and police community billboards where police can post announcements and other related information.

It will also provide a logbook for recording visits of patrolling policemen and  different activities of the PNP and shoulder the expenses they may incur in implementation of the MOA.

On the other hand,   PNP-Ifugao will utilize standby area as precinct and assistance center where victims and complainants can seek the police assistance.

The PNP will participate in regular dialogues with Shell with other organizations and stakeholders that both parties may invite relative to   peace and order and security situation.

The MOA signing was witnessed by Supt. James Mangili, deputy provincial police director for operations and Senior Insp. Edgar Tappo, officer-in-charge of Lamut Municipal Police Station, and employees of Shell Gasoline Station.  -- Marcelo Lihgawon

BANGUED, Abra -- Following the alarming increase of crimes in the province  recently, Abra Shield, a special task force to address criminality here intensified operations against crime.

Regional police director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez earlier designated Senior Supt. Albertito Garcia as OIC Abra police director and commander of Abra Shield effective October 15.

Nerez ordered Abra Shield members to address resurgence of criminality  in two months.

Garcia convened first command conference with provincial staff and chiefs of police  of   27 municipal police stations to tackle  peace and order and problems confronting police in  performance of their jobs.

Garcia appealed for support of the people of Abra to help in crime prevention and solution.  -- Josa Mai Ramirez

PNP  registers 14  firearms in Kalinga
TABUK CITY, Kalinga  -- The  Kalinga Police Provincial Office with Police Regional Office-Cordillera  recently conducted re-registration of  firearms and explosives as part of observance of Crime Prevention Month.

The activity resulted to approval of registration of 14 assorted firearms from the total of 20 applicants.
The online licensing caravan was led by Senior Supt.Richard Albon of .PRO-COR.   

Requirements included neuro-psychiatric examination, drug test, biometrics and attendance on gun safety and responsible gun ownership seminar, national police clearance among other services offered by the Caravan Team including local clearances. – Peter Balocnit

Abra village chief nabbed for illegal guns

LAGAYAN, Abra  – A village chairman was arrested after several firearms were seized during a raid on his house here Wednesday.

The raid on Leonardo Donato’s house in Barangay Pulot was based on a warrant issued by Judge Renato Pinlac, said Abra police director Senior Supt. Albertlito Garcia.

Seized from Donato’s house were three M16 Armalites, three caliber .45 pistols, an M14 rifle, a shotgun, a caliber .38 revolver and ammunition.

The raiding team also arrested Donato’s relatives identified as Joy Bersamire, JovenSindon, Rey Atayde, Boling Donato and Rodolfo Concepcion.

Garcia said the raid was part of “Operation Abra Shield,” which targets private armed groups in the province.        

P6.2 million marijuana uprooted
TINGLAYAN, Kalinga -- Law enforcement operatives recently uprooted  about 31,000 fully grown marijuana plants in an estimated 5,200 square meters land at Mt. Ma-adchil, barangay Bugnay this municipality with estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P6.2 million.

Provincial police director Senior Supt. Victor Wanchakan said uprooted marijuana plants were burned at site and some were brought to camp as specimen. -- Peter Balocnit

Illegal guns confiscated
BANGUED, Abra – Illegal guns were confiscated in this province last week by cops.

In the house of Joy Ban-o Bersamira, seized were one Elisco M-16A1 loaded with 19 bullets two magazines loaded with 44 rounds of ammunition.

Confiscated in the house of Rodolfo Concepcion Bernal, were one Cal. pistol, pistol holsters; and a magazine pouch for Cal.45.

In the house of Peter Boling Donato, a Cal.38 revolver without ammunition was confiscated.

A shotgun was also taken from the residence of Joven Donato Sindon.

Owners of the confiscated firearms were arrested except Sindon while the search was witnessed by the relatives of the suspects, Barangay officials, and media representative.

Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez ordered all police units to sustain this momentum and go after illegal firearms in urban centers and the countryside.

“We must continue to hit hard on these criminals who are behind the distribution and possession of illegal firearms in support of the national anti-illegal firearms campaign,” Nerez said.

Nerez noted "major accomplishments" against several firearm violators in recent operations.

Barangay officials surrender guns
LAGAYAN, Abra -- Rey Tolosa Atayde, 40, barangay tanod here of  Calumbuyan, Pulot surrendered to police  one M-14 rifle loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition while barangay chairman Rufino P. Buenafe of Sabnangan, Luba,  also turned in a Cal. 45 pistol.
