NPA female guerilla surrenders to Baguio police
BAGUIO CITY – A New People’s Army female guerilla surrendered to authorities here at main city police station Nov. 10 after 13 years in the underground movement.

Cordillera police director Chief Supt. IsaganiNerez, identified the surrenderee as Priscilla Degiawe Silot Aka Liway/Pinky, 44 of Lamag, Quirino, Ilocos Sur.

Nerez said Silot joined the NPA on November 2001 at Lamag, Quirino, Ilocos Sur and was assigned as medical and finance officer of the Kilusang Larangang Guerrilla (KLG) under the Jennifer Maria Carino Command operating in Quirino.

She said she decided to join the underground movement because of  harassment and atrocities she and members of her family experienced from the military.    

During her stint with the group, she took several trainings and courses and conducted the same among members of the rebel group.

She participated in the propaganda/mass work activities to strengthen and expand their mass base, particularly in places where support was dwindling. 

Since 2011, she left the group and sought refuge among her siblings because of health problems but she still communicated with her comrades.

When she transferred to another place she lost communication with them. Last year, she had fell in love with a driver and they lived together where she worked as house helper in Daet, Camarines Norte where her relatives encouraged her to surrender.

Trooper arrested in army camp for rape 
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Ifugao’s No. 3 top most wanted person was nabbed morning of Nov. 11 at Camp Melchor Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela.

Senior Supt. Robert Gallardo, Ifugao provincial police director identified TMWP as Christopher Collado Baccay , 28, a member of the Philippine Army assigned at 54th IB, 5ID with a rank of Private First Class, resident of Alibabad, San Mariano Isabela.

He was arrested by intelligence personnel of  Ifugao, Asipulo and Gamu police and members of the Ifugao Provincial Public Safety Company.

Judge Romeo Habiling of the RTC Branch 14, Lagawe, Ifugao recommended no bail for case filed against him for intentional abortion and rape.

Six men nabbed for carrying gold ore 
 ITOGON, Benguet -- Eight men were jailed after they were caught carrying a sack of gold ore here at Mainline, Sapo-Dalicno, L-1500, Acupan, Virac, and at Manganese tunnels, Dalicno, in this mining town Monday morning.

 Personnel of the Highland Warrior Security Agency Itogonpolice arrested Jaypee Lubuagan Banao, 24, Lino Antales Sullin, 30; Alvin Matnao Bawagan, 23; Erick Diaz Kawit, 20;Raymond Bang-as Bumongal, 20; Primo Marionga Bagsao, 40 and Ryan Walis Bumongal, all natives of Kalinga province and residents of Kias, Baguio City including while Florendo Ofod Bumosao, 31,of Virac.

All arrested person were brought to Itogon police station while charges were filed against them in court.

Former paramilitary man nabbed for firing gun
STA. MARCELA, Apayao -- A former paramilitary member was apprehended for illegal discharge of firearm here last week.

Senior Supt. Robert Gallardo, provincial police director said suspect Michael Agpaoa Anua, 21, of Sitio 6, Barangay Nueva here was nabbed for illegally discharging his firearm in Sitio 6.

Police found three pieces of fired cartridge cases of Cal. 45 handgun while the firearm used was not recovered.

Guns surrendered toAbra, Tabuk cops
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- A concerned citizen surrendered ahand grenade to local police here last week at Barangay Maguyepyep, Sallapadan, Abra while members of the City Public Order and Safety Office turned-in to Tabuk City police aCal.38 revolver loaded with four bullets placed inside a brown hand bag which they recovered at passenger’s waiting area at Purok 4, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

Farmer nabbed for illegal drugs
TABUK, Kalinga – A farmer wanted for illegal drugs was arrested early morning here Nov. 11 at Barangay Lacnog.
Provincial police director Senior Supt. Victor Wanchakan, identified the suspect as   Bonny Maggongoy Wacnang, 39, of Lacnog who was nabbed by the joint personnel of the Regional Public Safety battalion, Tabuk police and anti-narcotics agents.

2 dead,3 hurt as truck falls into ravine
PINUKPUK, Kalinga – Two persons died while three others, including a village chairman, were injured when a truck plunged into a ravine here Nov. 6.

Reports said Vicente, 45, and Camilo, 63, both surnamed Banatao, died at the scene while their relatives village chairman Emilio, 72; Mark, 25, and Reynold, 27, were taken to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital in Tabuk City for treatment.  

The victims were on their way to deliver construction materials to Allaguia Elementary School when Emilio lost control of the wheel as they were driving down the road in Barangay Allaguia at around 2 p.m., said Police Officer 1 Amado Balingao.

PNP chief awards Cordillera police  
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The Police Regional Office - Cordillera was conferred Performance Governance System Initiation Stage by Philippine National Police e Director General Alan Purisima here last week.
Purisima with regional police director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez led awarding ceremony attended by 100 police stations  in the region. 

The Golden Eagle Award was given to the Abra Provincial Public Safety Company  for garnering the highest ranking of 96 percent among police offices in the Cordillera. 
Silver Eagle awardees were Alfonso Lista Municipal Police Station in Ifugao which got 94.62%, Abra Provincial Public Safety Company  with 90.71% and Conner Municipal Police Station in Apayao with 90.68 % rating. 

Among the offices conferred initiation  stage for passing series of interviews by  advisory councils were 27 municipal police stations of the Abra; seven MPS of Apayao; 10 of Baguio City; 13of Benguet; 11 of Ifugao; 10 of Mountain Province; eight of Kalinga, seven of Apayao and Provincial Public Safety Company of each of the  province and the Baguio City Public Safety Company.

Purisima congratulated awardees and made special mention to the Golden and Silver awardees for garnering a rating of 90 percent and above in the recent evaluation conducted.
The awardees were recognized for their commitment, support and implementation of plans, projects, programs and activities in the PNP Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and the Rule of Law (PATROL) Plan 2030 which is geared towards attainment of the PNP vision of becoming a highly capable, effective and credible police service working in partnership with a responsive community towards the attainment of a safer place to live, work and do business.”

Last year, the region received a rating of 97.4 percent, the highest among first batch of directorial staff, national support units and police regional offices who applied for certification.

Lumber confiscated in Abra, Benguet
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- A total of P33, 590 worth of lumber was confiscated in Benguet and Abra last week. 

Bokod, Benguet police recovered an abandoned a blue Delica Mitsubishi van loaded with 139 pieces of illegally sawn pine lumber worth around P23,790.

The operatives found the vehicle along the provincial toad, in Sitio Moatong, Poblacion, Bokod, Benguet last week.
 Meanwhile, police personnel of Bucloc, Abra  also recovered 10 pieces of illegally sawn narra worth P9,800 along the road in SitioBuwaya, Lamao in the town last week. 

This, after a concerned citizen informed police about the matter.

Abra barangay officials surrender guns
BANGUED, Abra -- Barangay captain Jovito Venus and Eduardo Bragas, lupon member of Calao, Bucay town in Abra surrendered a shotgun with two bullets to police last week. 

Meanwhile, Dominic Villalva Dopredo, 30, of Bayaan, Dolores town also surrendered a Cal. 38 revolver to Dolores police.

All firearms are now under the custody of Abra provincial police office. 

Chief Supt.Isagani R. Nerez, PRO-COR regional police director, said support of the public on campaign of law enforcers against illegal activities generated positive results with successive confiscation of assorted lumbers and surrender of loose firearms.

Laborer locked in jail for hacking uncle 
TABUK CITY -- A laborer was locked-up in jail for hacking his uncle after a heated argument ensued between them here in Barangay Laya East.

The victim, Alfredo Nono Sagun, 61, widower, farmer was hacked by his nephew identified as Danilo Sagun Evangelista, 42, both residents of Laya East with the use of a bolo.

The victim was hacked on his upper left arm and was rushed by his relatives to Kalinga Provincial Hospital, Bulanao,
Tabuk while the suspect was arrested and the weapon used was recovered.


Farmer hacks fellow farmer 
RIZAL, Kalinga – A farmer was placed in jail after he was arrested in a follow-up operation for hacking his fellow farmer here in Bagbag, Bulbul last week.

The victim named Jonie Lambayong Ayum, 34, of Bagbag with his group were having a drinking session in a videoke bar when the group of the suspect led by the suspect Renato Songday Albas arrived and created trouble.

A heated argument ensued between the two groups that resulted into a fistfight prompting the group of the victim to run in their houses but were chased by the group of the suspect that ended in the hacking of the victim.

Ayum was brought to Juan Duyan Hospital in Babalag West, Rizal by his relativeswhile Albas was arrested and still holding the bolo he used in hacking the victim.


Minor caught entering student’s boarding house
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- A 17-year- old minor was taken into custody after he was caught entering the boarding house of a student at  Sitio Banig, Barangay Tawang here last week.

The victim identified as Sonia Gamsao Tafaleng, 26, boarder of the said place caught the suspect who is a helper at Jack’s Farmer’s Trading Post in Barangay Puguis here.

Tafaleng caught the suspect and immediately informed barangay officials.

Barangay Tawang official James M. Eustaquio, arrested the suspect and referred him to the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office.


Two minors taken into custody for snatching female Korean’s phone
BAGUIO CITY -- Two minors were taken into custody after they were caught snatching the cellular phone of a victim here at Laubach Road Saturday night.

The victim, only named as Apple, 16, 4th year high school,  of South Korea, and  resident of the area was approached by the two minors and asking for direction when they  suddenly snatched a Samsung Galaxy S2 cellphone she was holding.

The victim shouted for help and personnel of Police Station 3 who happened to be patrolling in the area apprehended the two minors with the help of bystanders.

Two men caught on CCTV getting department store items
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Two men were arrested after they were caught on CCTV stealing items inside the Tiong San Department Store here at km 4, Barangay Pico last week.

Tiong San Department Store guard Christian Balbanida Macutay, noticed through the CCTV the suspects identified as Jay-R Sibucao Gaqui, 24, sales associate, of Barangay Balili and Hector Pagalan Chan, 26,  of Barangay Cruzt placing items in a bag.

One IMAX card reader worth P100 and one DVD R CD worth P10 were recovered from their bag while P14,675 worth of computer accessories were recovered at the boarding house of Gaqui.
