Sagsago appointed new Baguio City prosecutor

BAGUIO CITY – President Benigno Aquino III officially signed the appointment papers of the new city prosecutor here Jan. 22.  

Deputy city prosecutor Elmer Manuel Sagsago took his oath of office as  new city prosecutor of Baguio Jan. 8 before Regional Prosecutor Nonnatus Caesar Rojas at Justice Hall here.
Sagsago was born Aug. 21, 1955 in Baguio but traces his roots from Natonin, Mountain Province. 

He replaced former city prosecutor Gloria Agunos who retired Sept. 28, 2013 with the post vacant for a year and six months.

Sagsago was sworn into office wearing a traditional Baliwon Tribe costume in the presence of his mother Kathrina Manuel, now 80, family members, friends and employees of the Justice Hall.
His stint in government service started in 1984 as legal researcher of the city fiscal and slowly climbed the ladder until his appointment as deputy city prosecutor in June of 2011. 

Prior to his entry into prosecution service, Sagsago was a civilian instructor of the Philippine Military Academy.
He is also professor in the College of Law of the University of Baguio (UB) and Saint Louis University (SLU). – Paul Rillorta
