REACHING OUT
BAGUIO CITY -- Ramon Morales, a 57-year old
former pony boy at the Wright Park, sidelined taxi driver due to cancer and
father to three kids, is now clueless on how to pay for his fourth chemotherapy
for colon cancer on April 20.
He already underwent three
chemotherapy sessions costing P17,150 each and has three more to go against the
disease. If it’s any blessing, his condition was diagnosed to be at stage
II, an indication that his chances at survival is good, provided he would
undergo the six-chemotherapy protocol prepared by oncologists at the Baguio
General Hospital and Medical Center.
Like any debilitating disease, however,
cancer and the chemotherapy sessions one has to undergo suck out one’s ability
to work.
“His wife could not work for they have a baby
to take care of,” noted social officer Myrna Valencerina of the city social
welfare and development office. referring their to the couple’s
six- month old daughter Rhamdesa was born just before the
diagnosis.
Their two other kids, Rhane, 15, and
Rhamdrex, six, are in senior high school and in the first grade.
Their neighbors, including punong barangay
Ricardo Mendoza, have been trying to raise some funds for Ramon. Last
week, Mnedoza asked that Ramon’s case be reported in the media outlets, so
people out there would know and be able to respond.
People who have some amount to spare may get
in touch with punong barangay Mendoza (C.P. number 09305778237) or
the patient (09474548221).
Samaritans may also visit the family at 21,
Purok 2, Pucsusan, Baguio City. – Ramon Dacawi
