charged for frustrated homicide post bail
BALBALAN, Kalinga– Two
persons charged with frustrated homicide
were arrested here by cops Feb. 25.
Suspects Irene Iddamag
Doy-ac and Arnel Cagwayan Doy-ac, were nabbed in Barangay
Salegseg.
The Regional Trial
Court Second Judicial Region, Branch 25,Tabuk City, Kalingare commended bail of P24, 000 each for their temporary
liberty.
Murder
suspect nabbed
LUNA, Apayao – A
resident here charged with murder and wanted in Cagayan identified as Rey
Tabanda Baniel was nabbed at his residence in BarangayZumigui, Feb. 22.Local
police and cops of Ballesteros, Cagayan arrested Baniel.
No bail was issued
by Francisco S. Donato, executive judge of RTC Branch 33 2nd Judicial
Region, Ballesteros for his temporary liberty.
Rape
suspect cornered
ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao
– A man wanted for rape in Cordon, Isabela
identified as Crisanto Dinamman Agbayani was arrested here at Barangay
Pinto Feb. 20 by local cops.
No bail was issued
by Fe Albano Madrid, executive judge of RTC, Branch 2, Santiago City
for Agbayani’s release from detention.
‘Leader’
of Manila, Central Luzon carnapping group nabbed in Baguio
BAGUIO CITY -- The
alleged leader of an elusive and notorious carnapping group in Region 3 and
Capital Region was recently arrested at his residence here in Barangay
Dominican-Mirador.
Highway Patrol
personnel in coordination with Police Station 1and barangay officials arrested
suspect Eduardo C. Bonifacioalso known as Nathaniel Dela Cruz Rivera, said to be the leader of a carnapping group
operating in Metro Manila and Region 3.
Bonifacio was charged
with three different crimes: robbery,carnapping and fencing.
Of the first two
crimes, Malolos,BulacanRTC Third Judicial Region, Branch 7, Malolos recommended
total bail of P360,000.
For Violation
of Presidential Decree 1612 known as Anti-Fencing Law, the RTC Br.
269, Valenzuela City recommended bail of P40,000.00.
Regional police
director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez said his men are still checking other cases the group might have been involved
in and the identity of victims in Cordillera and other places in Metro Manila
and Region 3.
P634,000
marijuana uprooted
KAPANGAN, Benguet –
Police uprooted 3170 fully grown marijuana plants worth P634,000here at
SitioToplac, Pudong Feb. 25.
The illegal plants
were burned on site while samples were taken by cops as evidence.
Jueteng
bet collector arrested
TUBA, Benguet – Police
arrested a certain Franklin Tomas
Saingan, 18as he was collecting jueteng bets here last week at Camp 3.
Police confiscated
from the suspect P819four leaflets with marking “Vista Gaming Corporation”
listed jueteng bets, and envelop with jueteng bet results.
He was brought to police
station for investigation.
Owner
of stolen motorcycle found
BUGUIAS, Benguet –
Police found an abandoned motorcycle parked along Buguias-Kabayan-Bokod Road at
a private road at Lower Abatan, Buguias.
The motorcycle was an
orange Euro Motorcycle without plate number.
Buguias police verified
at local Euro Motorcycle Company Buguiasoffice owner of the motorcycle who was
identified as Federico Pitas Lauro of AD 24-A Buyagan, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Lauro told police the
motorcycle was stolen while it was parked at the garage of their boarding house
in La Trinidad on Jan. 20.
Police turned over the
motorcycle to Lauro after he was able to establish ownership through documents.
Civilian
turns over rifle to cops
VILLAVICIOSA, Abra – A
certain WilfredoIsiguen Pescozo of Barangay Tuquib here turned over a Cal.22 rifle
without ammunition to town police Feb. 25.
Said firearm was
registered under the name of his father, Herminigildo P. Pescozo.
Registration expired
Dec. 30, 1981.
The firearm was turned over to Firearms Explosives
Security Agency and Guards Supervision Section for proper disposition.
Four
‘drug pushers’ arrested in buy-bust
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet -- Four suspected drug pushers were arrested in drug buy-bust
operation with another at a checkpoint
last week.
Operatives of North
Central Luzon Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, Benguet Provincial
Public Safety Company and La Trinidad Municipal Police Station arrested drug suspects
here at Strawberry Farm, Km 6 La Trinidad afternoon of Feb. 27.
Arrested were Ronie
Bantiyao Del-amen, 21, of Tublay, Charlie Sanchez Alumit, 18, of Bokod and Daverix Manos Peping, 18 of
La Trinidad, all Benguet towns.
Seized from them were 12
pieces of marijuana bricks weighing approximately 12 kgvalued at P300, 000 and
marked money worth P2, 000.
Drug
dealer nabbed beside Justice Hall
BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested
a suspected drug dealerhere along Upper Abanao St. fronting Justice Hall night
of Feb. 27.
Operatives identified
the suspect as Froilan Espinosa Ringor.
SeIzed from him were
“shabu” weighing 2.7 grams with Dangerous Drug Board value of P 9, 601 and
marked money of P1,000.
Mechanic
arrested at checkpoint with marijuana
BANGUED, Abra -- Personnel
of Regional Public Safety Battalion arrested a mechanic for possessing illegal
drugs in a checkpoint here at Barangay Agtangao, night of March 2.
Investigation
disclosed the arrested suspect identified as EligioTaezaPagtachan, 34, of Barangay
Macray was driving a motorcycle tried to evade police conducting
checkpoint when flagged down.
Pagtachan failed
to show his driver’s license but police noticed an enclosed foil of cigarette
containing alleged dried marijuana leaves and a folded knife protruding on his
waist that led to his arrest.
Winners
in PNP essay writing event awarded
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet -- Three students received their awards here for winning essay
writing contest during recent Benguet Police Provincial Office Youth Congress.
The competition themed,
“The Voice of the youth on how they can contribute to peace and order the country’s
nation building” was conducted Jan. 29 at Kings College of the Philippines, La
Trinidad.
The event was in line
with the program Benguet PPO on crime prevention. Some 126 students from
Benguet State University, Kings College of the Philippines and Cordillera
Carrier College participated.
Jason M. Matches,
Benguet State University garnered firstprize with his essay entitled “Youth in
Action: The Battle Against Crimes.”
Second prize went to Michelle
Godio with her essay “The hope of the future.”
Third placers were
Lorie Lyn A. Pessi, Marilou E. Salipnget and Roselyn B. Begawen, all from KCP.
Regional police
director Chief Supt. IsaganiNerez awarded certificate of recognition to
Jason M. Matches for being adjudged as first prize winner, followed by the third
prize winners Marilou E. Salipnget and Roselyn B. Begawen.

Driver
nabbed for firing gun, drinking buddy evades arrest
ITOGON, Benguet -- A
driver identified as HansyBaniwasCabansi, of Kias, Virac here was arrested
for indiscriminately firing a gun in Purok 6, Kias, Baguio City Feb. 8 while
drinking liquor with his companion who evaded arrest.
Prior to the
incident, his companion identified as Jessie AusenaDamey, a resident of Kias,
Baguio City brought out a Cal. .38 revolver loaded with a bullet and handed it
to Cabansi who fired the said firearm that resulted to his arrest by responding personnel of Police Station 4,
Baguio City Police Office.
Farmer
nabbed for firing guN
RIZAL, Kalinga -- A
farmer identified as Lester Paleyan Buslig, 30, and resident of San
Pascual this province was arrested in San Pascual night of Feb. 8 for firing a
gun.
Rizal police were
conducting patrol when they heard a gun fire near the Rizal Central School,
Babalag East—a distance of 100 meters away from them.
They saw the suspect
escaping on board a motorcycle. A short chase was made until he was arrested.
Buslig yielded a Cal.
9 mm handgun loaded with seven bullets.
Drunk
Army soldier destroys plants; nabbed with grenade
TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Active
member of the Philippine Army assigned at Mabacca and resident of Barangay Lanna
here identified as Sgt. Wagner Salimbay was arrested in Lanna
evening of Feb. 28 for illegal possession of hand grenade.
Before his
arrest, the suspect who was under the influence of liquor went to buy liquor at
a store but instead created trouble and destroyed plants there.
Police arrested him at
the residence of his father in-law and seized the hand grenade from his
possession.
Police
reports fewer crimes in Ifugao in 2014
LAGAWE, Ifugao --The
Police Provincial Office reported fewer crimes committed in the province for last
year as compared to 2013.
Last year’s data showed
872 crime incidents, lower by 15 percent than the 997 recorded
in 2013. Non-index crimes was reduced to 26% but there was
increase in index crimes.
Index
crimes are defined as those committed against persons such as murder,
homicide, physical injuries and rape and against property like robbery, theft,
carnapping, cattle-rustling and malicious mischief.
Non-index crimes are
violations of special laws and ordinances.
The reported index
crimes committed against persons for 2014 include 12 for murder, 12 for
homicide, 102 for physical injuries and 28 for rape for a total of 154 as
compared to 103 index crimes recorded in 2013 while for those committed against
property include 34 for robbery, 64 for theft, 42 for carnapping and 4
cattle-rustling.
In the non-index
crimes, there were 88 violations of special laws and 441 other non-index crimes
totaling 529.
The police said
average monthly crime rate (AMCR) in 2014 was 34.09 per 100,000 population
which was lower by 5.91 compared to the AMCR in 2013.
For its other
accomplishments, the Ifugao police fully organized barangay peacekeeping action
teams in 122 barangays of the province and conducted seminars and
trainings to 2,879 mobilized BPATS to enhance their capabilities in maintaining
peace order in their communities.
About 144 BPATS
supervisors were also trained to strengthen barangay defense system.
For intelligence, Ifugao police conducted 81 internal security operations
and trained 426 barangay intelligence network personnel in the province.
For 2015, the police
aims to sustain aggressive operation against illegal activities and enhance crime
prevention efforts through proactive police services and community empowerment.
It will also continue to support the provincial government
in promoting Ifugao as a safe eco-tourism-destination area. -- Daniel Codamon
