Woman jumps to death from Baguio school building
BAGUIO CITY – A woman jumped to her
death from the fourth floor of the Saint Louis University library here
Wednesday night.
Police described the woman, whose name was
withheld, to be in her 30s and works as a call center agent in this city.
The victim was said to be a former student of
the university.
Reports said the woman arrived at the library
at around 3 p.m. and stayed at the restroom until all students left.
She was reportedly exchanging text messages
with a friend while waiting. In her last message, she asked her friend to take
care of all her personal belongings.
Investigators said the woman was diagnosed
last year to be suffering from depression.
Kibungan execs’ kin have marijuana fields
KIBUNGAN, Benguet — The mayor of this town
admitted being saddled with the problem of marijuana plantations, particularly
in Barangays Tacadang, Badew, and Palina, despite frequent raids by law
enforcement agencies.
“We only have one problem here. One that has
been persisting for many years, the marijuana cultivation and some village
officials who tolerate it,” said Mayor Benito Siadto.
Raids have resulted in the destruction of
P500 million worth of marijuana fields in the three areas alone. Siadto said
while he discourages marijuana cultivation, some village officials in these
areas are the ones with relatives maintaining marijuana fields.
Laborer wanted in slay of councilor arrested
BUCLOC, Abra – A laborer identified as
Petronilo Ablog Rabena, 57, was arrested
April 12 at his residence here in Barangay Ducligan for murder and illegal possession of firearm.
Rabena was wanted for shooting to death a former city councilor and legal
officer Jose Pastor in Laoag City at his law office in Dec. 18, 2008.

BUGUIAS, Benguet – Police arrested April 13
Aizan Lammawin Galgaleng, 18, driver, of Bulalacao, Mankayan town at Barangay Abatan here for rape. Galgaleng was wanted for allegedly sexually
abusing a minor victim inside their house Dec. 6 to 7, 2014 at Proper
Bulalacao, Mankayan.
62-year-old man locked in jail for sex abuse
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 62-year-old man
identified as Edward Paras Ringor, porter and native of Manaoag, Pangasinan was
arrested April 14 early morning at Km.6 Balili here for allegedly sexually
abusing a female, minor Dec. 22, 2014.
His warrant was issued by Judge Francis A.
Buliyat Sr., of Regional Trial Court, Branch 9, First Judicial Region, La
Trinidad.

Bail of P100,000 set for man charged with robbery
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A laborer identified
as Peter Ignas Martinez, 32, was arrested at his residence in Sadag, Bahong
here April 14 for robbery with violence and intimidation of persons. Martinez
was charged for allegedly robbing Donald C. Kally Dec. 9, 2014.His arrest
Judge Ivan Kim B Morales, of RTC Branch 8, La Trinidad, Benguet issued warrant
for his arrested and recommended bail of P00, 000 for his temporary
liberty.
Businesswoman nabbed for estafa
BAGUIO CITY – A businesswoman wanted for
estafa identified as Maria Sylvia De Vera Igama, 52, was arrested at her
residence in Camp 7 here.Judge Emmanuel Cacho Rasing, of RTC Branch 3,
recommended bail of P100,000 for her temporary liberty.
Illegal recruitment, estafa lands lady in jail
BAGUIO CITY – A certain Luningning Quidez Lazaro,
41, married, was arrested at her residence here at Upper Quezon Hill April 15
for illegal recruitment and estafa. Her arrested warrant was issued by Judge Edilberto Claravall of RTC Branch 60, Baguio City. Claravall recommended bail bond of P40,000 for her
temporary liberty.
Man arrested in Bontoc for bouncing checks, estafa
BONTOC, Mountain Province -- Police arrested
Alex De La Cruz Roy, 32, married, resident of P. Burgos St, Baguio City April
15 along Poblacion here for estafa and bouncing checks. Arrest warrants were
issued against him by Baguio judges Edilberto Claravall, Ma. Clarita Tabin and
Maria Rivera with recommended total bail bonds of P 180,000.
Nine wanted persons nabbed in Cordillera
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Nine
“top most wanted persons” in Cordillera were recently arrested by police in
separate operations.
Chief Supt.Isagani R. Nerez, Cordillera
police director identified them as: Alex
Lladoc Esquillon, 47, of Makati City with a P90,000 bounty over his head was
nabbed for murder at Pasay City April 8 by regional police cops and members of
Aviation Security Group.
Jomer Dawadao Codiam, 24, single, farmer of
Mambaclao, Paracelis, Mt.Province; JojoCodiamAdiyat and Dexter BayongaoCodiam,
both 18, farmers and residents of Ngileb, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, were also
arrested in Alfonso Lista, Ifugao for robbery April 8, 2015 by Paracelis and
Alfonso Lista cops.
Emelito Estonilo Baday and Christie Lampuyas Pislaan
and Rosita Gaddaoan Baidan, who were charged with estafa, were also arrested in
Baguio City April 8.
An alleged criminal gang member of the
Maraya/Danilo Robbery Group identified as Randy Y. Yacap was also arrested
by cops for theft along Abanao Street.
Leonida P. Llanes, 68, married, of Baguio
City was arrested for unjust vexation April 7 in Barangay Lualhati, Baguio. --

Vendor nabbed for P1-M shabu
BAGUIO CITY – Anti-narcotics agents seized at
least 284 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P1 million from a
vendor in a sting on Aurora Hill, Baguio City last Friday.
Rasul Macadaya, 20, was arrested after he
reportedly sold a plastic sachet said to contain shabu to an undercover agent
of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Two more plastic sachets of drugs were
recovered from the suspect.
PDEA officials said it was the biggest shabu
seizure so far in the city.
Driver nabbed for shabu
BAGUIO CITY – A drug suspect was arrested in
a buy-bust operation here around 10 p.m. March 31 in Trancoville Barangay,
fronting Department of Agrarian Reform Office.
City police director Senior Supt. Rolando
Miranda said Jose “jhong” Sumbad Buli-e, 46, driver was nabbed by
operatives of Regional and City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group
and members of Station 2 cops.
Confiscated from the suspect was shabu valued
at P2,400.00 and buy-bust money of P1,000.00.

Farmer arrested for illegal drugs
BAKUN, Benguet – A farmer was arrested in his
residence here at Barangay Kayapa March 28 for illegal drugs.
Arrested was Joni Abeddew, 52,
after warrant of arrest was issued against him by Judge Manuel, presiding judge
of the Regional Trial Court Branch 34 of Balaolan, La Union for illegal drugs.
Cordillera police now hiring 850 cops
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – The
Cordillera regional police office is now hiring 850 cops for this year’s
recruitment quota.
Oath-taking of successful applicants will be
held July for 300 applicants, October for 200 and Jan. 2016 for 250.
Applicants for Police Officer 1 may submit
applications to Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division –
Recruitment and Selection Section for screening.
Requirements include duly accomplished
Application Form (RSD Form 2014-1A); Civil Service Personnel Data Sheet (PSD)
Revised 2005 with (2) copies of 2x2 colored picture and one (1) whole body
picture with white background; two (2) valid identification cards; NSO Birth
certificate; transcript of records and diploma; certificate of eligibility and
Board rating; clearances from barangay, police, National Bureau of
Investigation, mayor’s, MTC-RTC and prosecutor,
affidavit of undertaking (RSD DPRM Form 2014-1B); certificate of good
moral character from College or University; general weighted average and height
waiver (for underheight applicant).
Applicants must be Filipino citizens with
good moral character, 21 years and above but not more that 30 years old, at least
1.62 m in height for male and 1.57 m in height for female, must not be more
than or less than 5 kg from the standard weight corresponding to height, age
and sex.
Applicants must possess formal baccalaureate degree from a recognized
learning institution, illegible in accordance with standards set by the
Commission, must not have been dishonorably discharged from the military
employment or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government.
Applicans must not have been convicted by
final judgment of an offence or crime involving moral turpitude and must have
no pending criminal case in any court, including at the office of the Ombudsman
or administrative case if already an employee of government.
Applicants must pass neuro-psychiatric/psychological
screening, physical agility test, physical/medical/dental examination, drug
test and the final Board Interview.

66 cops complete PNP modified scout training
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad,
Benguet – Sixty six Cordillera scout police trainees received their scout
beret and pin after more than two months of rigid training in graduation rites
here last week.
Members of “Alibtak” Class 2015
completed 45-day training on modified PNP special counter-insurgency operations
unit training (SCOUT).
They were declared graduates by acting
deputy regional director for operations and chairman of regional training
committee Senior Supt. Donato O. Bacquian.
Regional police director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez
handed over certificates to graduates.
Certificates of merit were awarded to: PO1
Ronard B. Padchig ranked No. 1; PO1 John Mark S. Emper, No. 2; and PO1 Jafemar
C. Burgos as No. 3.
