LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Organizers big events
in this capital town are now required to set up toilets where
people flock and the call of nature could not be set aside.
The local
government crafted “La Trinidad Portalet Ordinance” requiring organizers and
operators of events to install portable restrooms or latrines in designated
areas.
Authored by
councilors Roderick Awinga, Henry Kipas and Estrella Adeban, the measure also
ensures the safety, convenience and comfort of locals and visitors alike.
It is also a
means of regulating business establishments and entertainment areas and helps
in the upkeep of health and sanitation of the locality.
Occasionally,
big events are hosted by the town such as the Strawberry Festival, the
province’s Adivay Festival and also sports and cultural activities.
In trade
fairs, a portalet is required for every 50 stalls for dry goods and for
every 30 food stalls. A set means one portalet for male and another
for female.
For
recreational and amusement theme parks, four sets are required to be set up
while outdoor concert, sports and other similar events require a set per 500
attendees.
A
corresponding penalty will be charged against those who violate the
law. First offense will entail a fine of P1,5000.00, second offense, P2,000.00
and third offense, P2,500.
