Mayor, 2 others hurt in Lingayen mishap

LINGAYEN,
Pangasinan — Mayor Jomil Espino of Bugallon town was injured along with his two
companions when the Nissan Frontier Navarra they were riding collided head-on
with a Toyota Hi-Ace UV Express along the national highway in Barangay Tonton,
here night of July 4.
The mayor is a son of
Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr.
Senior Supt. Rolie Saltat,
Officer-in-Charge of the Police Provincial Office, said the accident happened
at 11:50 p.m. when the mayor’s vehicle, driven by Amado John Jefferson Espino,
veered to the opposite lane and ran smack into the oncoming UV Express vehicle.
Saltat said Mayor
Espino, the driver, and their companion Joseph Mark Steven Espino, were hurt
and rushed to the Jesus Nazarene General Hospital in Lingayen for medical
treatment. The driver of the Hi-Ace van was also taken to the same hospital.
Traffic investigators
were still working on the case as of press time.
Meanwhile, at least
six people were injured when an Elf truck loaded with softdrinks lost its
brakes and rammed through 16 vehicles before ramping to a halt in front of a fastfood
chain outlet in Barangay Baligatan, Ilagan, Isabela, earlier that day.
Senior Supt.
Amorsolodela Cruz, Isabela police director, said Aristotle Danguiloan, 48,
married, and a resident of DodanPanablanca, Cagayan, has been detained over the
incident that happened at 9 a.m. The six injured were taken to a local
hospital.
Danguiloan was set to
be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries and multiple
damage to property.
