MANKAYAN, Benguet -- A boundary dispute between barangay Cabiten here and Bagu in Bakun town was recently settled.

To make the settlement binding, a memorandum of agreement was perfected and forged between the two barangay governments at  the barangay hall in  Cabiten.

The settlement was arrived at following dialogue  between the two barangay units represented by officials, elders and indigenous peoples organizations approving political boundary as well as ancestral domains.

Leading their respective barangay units were barangay Cabitenpunong barangay Balodoy M. Totanesand  Bagu PB Marlon B. Abyadang.

It was agreed that the identified five corners particularly Apantaan – Amodon – Masabak – Maanes – Sabbang  are  located within Bakun.

Based on approved political boundary map, CAD 498-D of BakunCadastre, barangay Bagu is the adjoining political boundary of barangay Cabiten.

The decision is final and irrevocable as stated in the agreement.

The municipal council of Mankayan through a resolution recognized the agreement arrived at between the two barangay units.

Attempts to resolve the boundary dispute took place as early as 1999 during the term of the late Mayor TicoDalmones of Bakun and the late Mayor ManaloGaluten of Mankayan.
