5 ‘budol-budol’ suspects nabbed

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur — Police operatives arrested five suspected members of a big-time swindling syndicate (“Budol-Budol” Gang) operating in Ilocos provinces in a hot-pursuit operation along the road between Barangays Bagani Campo and San Agustin in Candon City last Wednesday afternoon.

             Chief Insp. Greg Guerrero, spokesman of the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO), confirmed yesterday the arrest of suspects Carlos M. Pingoy, 58; Michael Dacanay, 39; Consolacion Santos, 64; Raquel dela Cruz, 37; and Glory Mae Rimando, 25.

               Recovered by police from the five were cash and jewelry pieces worth a total of P710,000 which they had taken from businessman Mariano “Mike” Chan, 83, of Vigan City, a department store owner. -- Freddie G. Lazaro
