KIBUNGAN, Benguet — A total of P148 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed here in eight operations by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police in Benguet from February 27 to March 1.
PDEA-Cordillera regional director Juvenal Azurin said the latest of the marijuana eradication operations were conducted in Sitios Tanap and Bana, Barangay Tacadang.
A total of P39.57 million worth of marijuana – 120,800 fully-grown plants; 4,000 seedlings; and 122 kilos of dried stalks – were destroyed in nine cultivation sites across an estimated land area of 1.56 hectares, Azurin said.
This latest operation adds up to this year’s total worth of marijuana destroyed in Benguet at P148,697,000, based on PDEA-Cordillera figures.
However, none of the cultivators of the marijuana plantations was arrested in any of the eight marijuana eradication operations in the province.
