Ex-mayor nabbed; councilor, two hurt in Abra gun attack

BANGUED,
Abra – A former mayor of Langiden town of this province was arrested Tuesday
for illegal guns and drug paraphernalia even as a councilor, his younger
brother and a 12-year-old bystander were wounded in a gun attack in front of a
bar in Bangued night of July 2.
The raid on the house of former mayor
Noel Castillo in Barangay Cabuloan was based on a search warrant issued by Abra
Regional Trial Court Branch 58 Judge Raphiel Alzate.
Police recovered five .45 caliber
pistols and bullets for various guns.
Authorities also seized various drug
paraphernalia, including an improvised smoke pipe, tooters, assorted lighters,
an improvised burner, a digital weighing scale and four plastic sachets.
Meanwhile, still in Bangued, a councilor, his younger brother
and a 12-year-old bystander were wounded in a gun attack in front of a bar
night of July 2.
Allen Brix Bachiller is now confined at
the Lorma Hospital in San Fernando, La Union, where he was transferred from the
Seares Memorial Hospital in Abra.
Alex and his brother Angelo picked up a
friend at the Tropicana Bar when they were shot as they were to enter their
Toyota Innova (ZPU-924).
The boy, identified only as Ben, was hit
by a stray bullet.
Seven bullet shells for a .45-caliber
pistol and three bullets for a .32-caliber pistol were recovered at the scene.
