Folks air concern as dams’ levels increase

BOKOD, Benguet -- Water in major dams in Luzon
have increased after heavy rains on Monday, charts from the Philippine
Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration showed Tuesday
causing concern among people living downstream of flooding.
The state
weather bureau noted the water level at the Angat Dam has increased from 179.83
meters Monday to 179.93 meters Tuesday, however it is still far from the normal
high level of 210 meters.
The Ambuklao Dam in
Bokod elevated its water level from 741.03 meters Monday to 741.27 meters
Tuesday. The dam has a normal high-water level of 752 meters.
The Binga Dam, also
located in Bokod, also increased its water level from 570.79 meters Monday to
570.96 meters Tuesday. It is nearing its water high level of 575 meters.
The
water level in the San Roque Dam in Pangasinan increased by 0.14 meters from
230.18 meters Monday to 230.32 meters
Tuesday. It is located in Pangasinan and has a high water level of 280 meters.
The water level at the
Ipo Dam, which is also located in Bulacan, increased to 100.49 meters Tuesday
from 100.30 meters Monday. It is nearing the normal high level of 101 meters.
The La Mesa Dam has
also slightly gained more water at 78.93 meters Tuesday from 78.91 meters
Monday, still far from its normal high water level of 80.15 meters.
Meanwhile, the water
levels at the Pantabangan, Magat and Caliraya dams have decreased.
