CITY -- Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos expressed full support to President-elect
Rodrigo Duterte’s plans to reimpose death penalty to criminals, especially
those involved in illegal drugs.
“Sa akin, will ko kay President
Digong, magko-comply and probinsiyang Ilocos Norte, total
compliance kami diyan (sa death penalty),” Marcos said, vowing to
continue the battle against crime and illegal drugs in the province.
She cited importance of protecting “the
rights of the citizenry—the youth and the victims of drug pushers and
syndicates,” by ensuring their security against prevalent crimes.
Marcos urged the public to report
suspects as well as advised those involved in drug-related activities to
surrender to authorities as early as possible.
“Sigurado na handang-handa ang ating kapulisan
at handang-handa rin tayong kasuhan ang kailangang kasuhan,” she added.
Earlier this year, the Ilocos Norte
Provincial Anti-illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group has arrested some
public officials involved in drugs, whom Governor Marcos condemn.
Marcos assured the provincial
government’s efforts in ensuring a safe and peaceful Ilocos Norte through its
cooperation with military forces.
