LUNA, Apayao – This province was allotted P500 million by the
national government through the Dept. of Public Works and Highways for
infrastructure projects.
Gov. Elias Bulut Jr.,
said the amount will be for construction of seven bridges that will
interconnect 11 municipalities in the province.
This will spur
development, economic growth, increase tourism and alleviate poverty in amongst
us, Bulut said.
He expressed the
people’s gratitude to the national government for the support extended the
province.
Earlier this month,
the P60 million Paco Bridge which connects Kabugao and Pudtol municipalities
was inaugurated. This shortened travel time from Tabuk, Kalinga to Luna, Apayao
without passing through Cagayan Valley.
Apayao is located deep
in the Cordillera mountains and according to the Dept. of Environment and
Natural Resources is the last frontier of forest reserve with its extensive
watershed along its western slope and peaks. -- Joseph Zambrano
