Former Ilocos mayor’s aide shot dead on road

PASUQUIN, Ilocos Norte -- An aide of a former mayor in this town was gunned down on Tuesday.

Roger Yaba, 36, a resident of Barangay Par-Paruroc in Vintar town, was driving his motorcycle in Barangay Pragata, Pasuquin when he was shot.

The case was reported as a vehicular accident until investigators discovered multiple gunshot wounds in Yaba’s body.


Bullets shells for an M16 rifle were recovered at the scene.


Senior Insp. Arnel Tabulog, Pasuquin police chief, said five men who were with the victim prior to the attack were held for questioning.

Yaba was an aide to former Pasuquin mayor Felix Peter Aguinaldo.


Police said the victim was not on the drug watchlist.
