Barangay captain, kin die in ambush

STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan – A barangay captain and three of his family members were killed in an ambush in this town on Tuesday night. 

        Cecilio Ballesteros, 56, chairman of Barangay Banzal; his son Brian, 34; brother Dionisio, and brother-in-law Manuel Aquino were in a tricycle on their way home from a drinking spree when they were waylaid along Malanay Bridge at around 8:30 p.m., said Chief Inspector Rex Infante, Sta. Barbara police chief.

         Bullet shells for caliber .45 and 9mm pistols were recovered at the scene.Infante said prior to the incident, Ballesteros received death threats.
